As September settles in, many students — and their families — are feeling the weight of new routines, big emotions, and packed calendars. The return to school often brings excitement, but it can also stir up stress, overwhelm, and uncertainty. It’s a season of change, and at Northwestern Ontario Counselling & Consulting (NWOCC), we’re here to help.
We currently have availability for new clients across Ontario, both virtually and in-person, and we’re especially focused on supporting:
Children & Teens
- Navigating school transitions
- Managing social stress and anxiety
- Coping with mental health challenges
Parents
- Looking for practical strategies to support their kids
- Wanting to reduce family conflict
- Feeling overwhelmed and in need of support themselves
Families
- Working to improve communication
- Building healthier routines and emotional regulation
- Struggling to find a sense of calm at home
What We Focus on Early in Therapy (So Relief Comes Quickly)
We know that families need support now, not months down the road. That’s why our early sessions are designed to bring practical relief and build momentum, including:
- Routines that actually stick
- Sleep and screen time plans that reduce daily conflict
- Study strategies and tools to support focus
- Calmer conversations and ways to repair after blowups
- Coping skills for anxiety, stress, and emotional overwhelm
We Also Offer:
- ADHD, Autism, and mental health assessments for adults to support clarity and planning
- Sliding-scale options through our Affordable Counselling Program
Referrals Welcome
If you know a student, parent, or family who could use extra support this fall, we’d love to connect. We welcome referrals from schools, healthcare providers, and community partners, and we’re always happy to collaborate around care. More importantly, if you are a student or parent yourself, no referral is necessary – feel free to book a free 15-minute consultation online at: https://nwocc.janeapp.com/
Thank you for being part of our community — and for your ongoing support!
