Trauma-Informed Solution-Focused Counselling Skills (For Service Providers)

Gain the tools you need to support clients and community members through a trauma-informed lens. This full-day workshop will build your understanding of trauma, its impacts, and how to create a safe and stabilizing environment for those you work with. Learn practical strategies to prevent re-traumatization and foster resilience in your clients, all while maintaining empathy and patience. By the end of this training, you’ll be equipped with actionable tools to better support individuals with a variety of mental health challenges, especially within tight timeframes.

Youth Mental Health 101 (For Service Providers and Youth Community Members)

This engaging, interactive workshop is designed to empower youth and those who support them. Explore the common mental health challenges today’s youth face and discover effective coping strategies, self-care techniques, and ways to build resilience. You’ll also learn how to be a supportive ally to friends who are struggling. Throughout the day, enjoy fun activities, group discussions, games, and prizes—all while gaining valuable insights into local resources available to youth.

Mental Health First Aid

Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) provides the essential skills needed to assist someone developing a mental health issue, experiencing the worsening of an existing issue, or in the midst of a mental health crisis. Similar to physical first aid, MHFA provides initial support until professional care can be accessed or the crisis is resolved. This workshop is ideal for increasing mental health awareness within your team and equips you to support colleagues, friends, clients, and family members.

Brady Heyens, a Certified MHFA Trainer, offers this important training. For more information or to schedule a session, please contact us at admin@nwocc.ca.

Maternal Mental Health Groups

Motherhood can be both rewarding and overwhelming. Our Maternal Mental Health Groups offer a safe, supportive space for moms to connect, share their experiences, and talk openly about the ups and downs of motherhood. Led by Kaylee Heyens-McMahon, a Certified Perinatal Mental Health Professional and survivor of postpartum depression and anxiety, these groups combine evidence-based research with lived experience.

In a confidential and non-judgmental environment, you’ll have the opportunity to share as much or as little as you’re comfortable with. Whether you’re navigating postpartum challenges or simply seeking connection, our groups provide a space for support, validation, and empowerment. Babies are always welcome, because we understand that motherhood doesn’t stop when it’s time for group.
